Johnny Get Angry - kd lang
There’s renewed interest in kd lang because of her decent performance at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. I have never been a fan, but maybe I haven’t tried hard enough. Check out the piano on this song. And, oh, her performance is amazing.
Breathe (Pink Floyd) - The Flaming Lips
The Lips recently released a cover of the entire album of Dark Side of the Moon. While, I thought it was ok, Breathe is the best track on the album. This video shows why the Lips might be the new Pink Floyd - psychedelia mixed with extreme fun is never a bad combination.
Biko - Peter Gabriel
“You can blow out a candle, but you can’t blow out a fire. Once the flame begin to catch, the wind will take it higher.”
I don’t know if Peter Gabriel wrote those words (or if Steven Biko did), but it’s as powerful as any lyric I have ever heard. This is a fantastic version of this song with Mr. Gabriel at the height of his powers.
I’m not sure how I came across this book, but the first thing that struck me (after the title) was the $150 price tag. Then I saw that it had 31 5-star reviews. Then I read the reviews. I recommend you do the same. Thank-you Amazon.
